Three ways indoor potted plants can change the energy in your home and office for the better!

Have you noticed that placing plants in attractive pots and baskets around your home or office (on shelves, placed on plant-feet, on window sills, your desk, coffee table etc) is really trendy right now?! So trendy, that there are in fact plastic versions being sold in all the homewares stores, which are marketed to people who are plant-killers!

BUT, home and office pot plants aren't just for style or decoration, because plants can actually change the energy in your home. REAL plants, that is!

Here are three ways indoor potted plants can change the energy in your home and office for the better!

(1) POT PLANTS PURIFY THE AIR and CAN ALSO HELP YOU SLEEP!

Some scientists say that house plants are effective natural air purifiers, and the bigger and leafier the plant, the better! Plants improve the quality of the indoor air by purifying air through methods such as absorption, dilution, precipitation, and filtration.

Add some larger plants to your home, home-office or office, as they attract a greater amount of energy.

Purifying the air in your bedroom will help you feel more relaxed, so incorporating plants with scents such as Jasmine and Lavender, will help us to relax and sleep better. PLUS, plants and their leaves absorb sound, as well as detract or reflect background noise, giving our environment a more peaceful atmosphere.

(2) POT PLANTS HELP INCREASE YOUR FOCUS TO ENSURE YOU'RE MORE PRODUCTIVE!

Add plants to your office desk for more success in your business and work life, and improve productivity by up to 15%! Research has shown that when surrounded by plants, people tend to be more productive as it increases concentration and productivity. Synthetic office furnishings are responsible for releasing chemicals into the air, and potted plants filter those chemicals, giving us cleaner air. Green is the colour of productivity and when our attention shifts to the plants on our desk, it gives us a micro-break from our computer screens that can help boost our concentration. Definitely worth a try!!

(3) POT PLANTS ACTUALLY RELIEVE STRESS AND ANXIETY and can BOOST YOUR MOOD!

Surrounding yourself with nature, is the next best thing to actually being in nature. Nature's fresh air can reduce stress levels and aid in relaxing your mind to help you deal better with stress. Also, caring for plants suppresses sympathetic nervous system activity and promotes comfortable, soothing feelings. If you're experiencing anxiety, there are plants that can help such as Lavender’s scent.

Study shows that plants can lift your mood, and our connection to plants is sometimes so strong that it takes under 20 minutes to feel more peaceful and relaxed after we've been in a room with healthy plants. The cleaner air from the plants, allows for more oxygen to reach the brain, boosting our mood, focus, creativity and reducing stress.

TOP PLANT TIPS:

  • Plants with an upward vs drooping foliage are best for energy
  • Plants in the entry area of your home of work place invite positive energy into your space, business and life.
  • Keep your plants healthy. Sick plants can bring bad energy to your home. Plants need four basic things: air, soil, sunlight, and water. Interestingly, one of the most common killers of indoor plants is overwatering. Too much water basically drowns the roots of a plant, causing them to eventually rot and thus stopping them being able to drink the water.
